This release delivers three key improvements: JavaScript steps.js now supports configurable warn/fail/off modes with before/after hooks, and Playwright video recording, plus human-readable error messages have been added. CI/CD coverage expands to nearly every major platform, Jenkins, Azure, AWS, GCP, TeamCity, Semaphore, Harness, Bamboo, Codefresh, and more, each with a ready-to-use config file. Documentation has also been restructured with a renamed index, a regenerated 407-step reference, and setup guides for all Tier 1 CI platforms.

This release rewrites webship-js around a per-domain step-file layout, adds TypeScript / JavaScript interop, ships 22 CMS and framework selector presets, introduces a flat colored PDF report, and brings the documentation set up to date. All 288 scenarios / 1,406 steps pass on chromium, firefox, and webkit.

New updates in Webship-js Added visual regression testing with Diffy, advanced screenshot capabilities, and unified selectors (CSS + XPath). Also included new step definitions (follow-link, multi-select, element count, and debugging tools).

This release adds a step definition for anonymous user testing and removes the external template.sh dependency by integrating setup locally, simplifying both testing and installation.

We’ve unified all recent improvements into a stable version, bringing a smoother and more powerful testing experience. The biggest highlight is the full transition to Playwright, giving better performance, flexibility, and modern browser control.

This release enables browser window maximization by setting viewport: null in Playwright context options, while still allowing users to customize viewport dimensions as needed.

Previously, webship.js loaded its own internal playwright.config, ignoring any project-level settings. Now it loads the config from the project's root directory using process.cwd(), so projects can control Playwright settings like headless and slowMo from their own playwright.config.ts.

Migrated all step definitions in webship-js to Playwright. This change removes the need for a separate WebDriver server, simplifying setup and improving test speed and reliability. All step definitions in tests/step-definitions/webship.js were rewritten using the Playwright API while keeping the Cucumber.js layer unchanged, so existing .feature files require no modifications. Browser lifecycle is now managed per scenario via Cucumber hooks, and the browser (chromium, firefox, webkit) can be selected using the BROWSER environment variable.

This release brings key improvements to stability and configuration management. We moved the Cucumber pretty formatter options into nightwatch.conf.js for a cleaner setup, upgraded Chromedriver to 144.0.1 for better compatibility and reliability, and fixed the Bitbucket pipeline configuration to ensure smoother CI execution.
